After 14 model years, Toyota is updating the Toyota Sequoia with a makeover. The third-generation 2023 Toyota Sequoia has new exterior styling with a modern, high-end cabin redesign. Toyota added a new infotainment system and a fuel-efficient hybrid powertrain.

Performance And Driver-Assistive Technology

Toyota put a new i-Force Max hybrid engine in the 2023 Toyota Sequoia. This powertrain includes a twin-turbocharged 3.5-liter V6 engine with a 1.87-kWh battery pack, electric motor, and a ten-speed automatic transmission. This smooth and responsive powertrain delivers an impressive 437 horsepower and 583 lb-ft of torque.

The full-size SUV comes standard with rear-wheel drive, and all-wheel drive is available. The Sequoia towing capacity is 8,980 to 9,520 lbs – almost 2,000 pounds more than the previous generation.

Despite being a large SUV with a V6 engine, the 2023 Toyota Sequoia MPG beats the 2022 models, as the 2023 EPA-estimated fuel economy is 22 MPG combined. For comparison purposes, the previous generation 2022 Sequoia had an EPA-estimated fuel economy of 13/17 MPG.

Drivers who want to take their Sequoia off-road should choose the TRD Pro, especially if they are looking for something close to the discontinued Land Cruiser. The TRD Pro trim has a two-speed transfer case, high and low-range gears, low-speed crawl control, and a locking rear differential.

Toyota also includes several driver-assistive features to enhance the ride. Standard Toyota Safety Sense features include a Surround View Parking Camera System, Blind Spot Monitoring, Rear Cross-Traffic Alert, Forward Collision Warning with Pedestrian and Cyclist Detection, Adaptive Cruise Control with lane Centering, Automatic High Beams, and Traffic Sign Recognition.

Infotainment And Comfort Features

The entry-level Toyota Sequoia SR5 has an 8.0-inch touchscreen with Apple CarPlay, Android Auto, navigation, SiriusXM Satellite Radio, Bluetooth, a Wi-Fi hotspot, and an eight-speaker stereo. The Limited trim adds a 14.0-inch touchscreen, while the Platinum trim adds a 14-speaker stereo. The top Capstone trim adds a head-up display and power-retractable running boards.

The 2023 Toyota Sequoia interior comfort features on the SR5 include heated front seats, tri-zone climate control, a moonroof, and LED headlights. The Limited trim has synthetic leather upholstery with ventilated front seats, power-folding third-row seats, and a heated steering wheel. Toyota adds leather seats and a panoramic moonroof to the Platinum and TRD Pro, while the Capstone trim has perforated leather-trim seating.
